Local Scenes
Whether you hire a car or use the good bus and train services in the area, there are many places to visit along the coast or up in the mountains.
Nearest is the village of Finestrat itself, only 3 kilometres away high in the mountains. However, if you go down to Cala de Finestrat (the beach area) you can catch buses to Benidorm (1 euro), from where you can get almost anywhere you like.
Some of the places we suggest are the mountain towns of Guadalest with the Museo Tipico showing life in the village from the 18th century to 20th century, and the Museo de Torturo de Medieval (Tourture museum!) as well as an animal refuge. Altea has wonderful artists workshops to visit and Calpe (take the boat trip from Benidorm for a change of scene and sea air) one of the biggest markets in the area.
In Jijona you can take a tour of the Turron museum (just 20 km north of Alicante)
dedicated to the areas almond, nougat and marzipan industry . The museum is situated in the same building as the factory:
